Property Details

Privacy, space, and beauty abound in this stunning creek side estate in the mountains above Calistoga. The ideal location for large family gatherings, weddings, or corporate retreats.

Experience the secluded luxury of our expansive mountain estate nestled in the eastern hills between Calistoga and Middletown. Despite its remote feel, you're just minutes away from the vibrant restaurants and rejuvenating spas of Calistoga, or the convenience of Middletown's grocery stores.

The main house boasts a sprawling open kitchen and dining area equipped with top-of-the-line appliances, a cozy family room with a wood-burning fireplace, and five spacious bedrooms. Throughout the house, you'll find tasteful Ralph Lauren Home furnishings that evoke a sense of luxurious yet inviting mountain retreat.

Designed by the owner and renowned architect Mark Appleton, the guest cottage offers a king-sized bed and exudes the charm of the English countryside with its Cotswalds-inspired design. Crafted from timbers and stone sourced from the property itself, the cottage features Venetian plaster walls, solid walnut floors, and elegant bathroom fixtures from Waterworks.

Venture out onto the sprawling grounds to explore hiking trails winding up the hill behind the structures, or bask in the sunshine on the summer beach along the creek that meanders through the property. For indoor entertainment, retreat to the "Bunk Barn," a designer game room equipped with a high-definition surround system, an 85-inch home theater, and a pool table, offering direct access to the pool area.

A great place for a lot of people to get together in a secluded private location. The furnishings were extremely nice. The kitchen was incredibly well set up for cooking and entertaining. Lots of varied areas to sit and chat. Great pool and jacuzzi. It is expensive, but the set-up is well worth it. You expect a lot for the price and the venue delivers.

We had a large family get together and it was a perfect secluded venue.

Very nice and was perfect for what we wanted

We stayed here 4 nights for a large extended family get together. It was perfect for what we wanted. We had 19 family members and there were very comfortable beds and accommodations for everybody. The compound was remote — which is what we wanted.

The grounds are spacious, varied and spread out, so everybody could explore or gather as they choose. There are lots of places where people could hang out and talk. We spent a lot of time around the pool, with kids running about while the adults could sit and chat in 4 separate areas where they can still see the pool, or all together. The pool was really nice with the waterfall. The water was cool, which was perfect for the summer hot weather and the spa was perfectly warm for a good contrast.

The furnishings were amazing. It was very clear that whoever furnished the place wanted very high quality furnishings. Cost was clearly not a concern for whoever bought the furnishings. The kitchen was completely stocked with an abundance of everything needed for a high quality kitchen. Again, all the appliances, plates glasses, utensils, knives, silverware and everything needed were there and were clearly top of the line. It was actually surprising that they entrusted strangers to use very expensive glasses and China. We actually felt very protective of them to make sure no kids broke anything.

The systems such as A/C and the electronic switches and controls are complex, but were easy for me since I love a fully electronic home and have much the same at my home. Somebody like my brother, who can’t figure out how to turn on any lights, open blinds, open windows or unlock doors at my home would be befuddled by the complexity.

The cost was high for the 5 days and 4 nights, but overall it was very good.

There are a couple of things that need improvement. The internet was dog slow, and this is a real issue for those who need to stay connected, since there was limited ATT cell coverage and no Verizon or TMobile coverage. There is a Starlink antenna on the roof, but we were not given access to it. We were on a family retreat, so we didn’t want everybody on their devices the whole time, so not a huge factor for us, but if you need to work remotely or communicate a lot with the outside world, this would be a big problem.

There needs to be more umbrellas for around the pool for the size of the groups who would utilize this place.

There is no setup currently for charging electric cars (although it looks like at least one is being built — but not done yet), so if people have electric cars, they should charge up ahead of time.

The outside landscape lighting is everywhere on the huge multi-acre lot which is very nice, but the controls for those are in an electronic system that is password protected, so we had no access to it and the lights were on 24/7. We were concerned for the electric costs — even though we weren’t paying for it. I can sort of see why they would want to control it and not let guests mess with it, but if they trust us with extremely expensive glassware and furnishings, I would have thought they would trust us to turn off the lights.

Overall, it was expensive, but very nice and was perfect for what we wanted.

The property was perfect for my family and our stay. Stunning location and great amenities. Everything we needed was available for us to cook meals there at the house. Arthur was helpful, and made the check in and check out process easy.

Would recommend or go back in a heart beat!

Our stay in Calistoga could not have been more perfect for our small retreat. The outdoor spaces were so special from the pool, bridge & creek, walking paths, and outdoor seating areas. The big bunk room was also a huge hit. The space was beautiful, it's taken care of very well, and the logistics were super easy and seamless. Would recommend or go back in a heart beat!

Gorgeous, comfortable and even better than the photos ! You will want to stay a month in this picturesque setting. We had a couple very small issues/questions that the host took care of right away. Our stay was fabulous!!

Lovely location. Was a tad overpriced we felt, but couldn't get that from the pics. while large, lovely and cool fire access roads to walk, its more dated that it looks. pool and hot tub can be confusing to figure out but once you get it, it was fine. never was fully able to get pool up to the temp, although paid $200 a day to get that working.i think we were the first renters so they are figuring out the kinks. would go back again but not at that cost.
