There are wine country rentals, and then there is Ross Ranch. Set on more than 20 private acres in the picturesque Knights Valley just north of Calistoga, this working ranch and vineyard property offers something genuinely rare — an immersive farm stay experience wrapped in the kind of thoughtful luxury that has earned it a perfect five-star rating across dozens of stays. Two meticulously remodeled farmhouses — Casa 1 and Casa 2 — sit among lush Cabernet vines with sweeping, unobstructed views of Mount Saint Helena. Each casa has been designed with contemporary furnishings, modern art, and warm, inviting interiors that feel at once stylish and deeply comfortable. Together they accommodate up to 12 guests, with each home offering its own private outdoor space and a sense of independence within the larger ranch setting. The shared amenities are where Ross Ranch truly distinguishes itself. Two sparkling pools — including a private container pool at Casa 2 — offer different moods for different moments. The party barn is the social heart of the property: a fully equipped entertainment space perfect for group gatherings, celebrations, and long evenings with people you love. A standalone private gym with two Peloton bikes, free weights, a rowing machine, and a smart TV means your routine need not pause for wine country. The ranch itself is alive in a way that makes every morning feel like an event. Fresh eggs from resident chickens, vegetables and herbs from the garden, peacocks, horses, cows, and the unhurried rhythm of a working vineyard — this is a setting that pulls guests away from their screens and into something far more memorable. Private wine tastings featuring the ranch's own label, and farm-to-table catering and chef dinners, can be arranged to complete the experience. A new pickleball court, property bikes for exploring the 20-plus acres, and two gated coded entrances for complete privacy round out an offering that is as practical as it is exceptional. Just minutes from Calistoga's restaurants, spas, and world-class tasting rooms, Ross Ranch delivers total seclusion without isolation — and an authenticity that no purpose-built luxury estate can manufacture. Sleeps 12 · 6 bedrooms · 4 bathrooms · 20+ acre working vineyard · Pets welcome (with fee) · New Pickleball Court
Ross Ranch is the only working vineyard estate in the Calistoga area where guests don't just visit wine country — they live it. Fresh eggs from the ranch each morning, tastings of the property's own Cabernet label, and 20 acres of private vines and pasture create an authenticity that no purpose-built luxury rental can replicate. Two pools, a party barn, and a perfect five-star rating across dozens of stays seal it.

Calistoga sits at the northern tip of the Napa Valley floor, where the Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges converge to create one of California's most dramatic and celebrated wine country settings. It's a town that moves at its own unhurried pace — small enough to feel intimate, yet rich enough in world-class experiences to fill a week without repeating yourself. From the property, you're within minutes of some of Napa Valley's most iconic wineries — Chateau Montelena, Castello di Amorosa, and Sterling Vineyards among them — as well as the boutique tasting rooms that line the Silverado Trail and Highway 29 corridor. St. Helena, home to Michelin-starred dining and high-end shopping, is a short drive south. Calistoga is also unique in Napa Valley for its natural geothermal hot springs. World-famous spa destinations including Indian Springs, Dr. Wilkinson's, and Calistoga Spa Hot Springs are all within easy reach, making this an ideal base for guests who want to combine wine tasting with genuine relaxation and rejuvenation. Downtown Calistoga's Lincoln Avenue offers a walkable stretch of locally owned restaurants, wine bars, and boutique shops — an easy evening stroll after a day in the vineyards.
The nearest commercial airports are Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS) approximately 45 minutes away and is serviced by Amaerican, Alaska, and Southwest. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) approximately 90 minutes south. Oakland International Airport (OAK) is also a reasonable option at roughly 80 minutes.
A car is the best way to experience Napa Valley, and most guests choose to drive or arrange a private car service for the duration of their stay. Having your own vehicle gives you the freedom to explore wineries along the Silverado Trail and Highway 29 at your own pace — which is really the only way to do wine country properly. If you plan to spend your days tasting, we strongly recommend arranging a private driver or wine tour vehicle in advance. Our concierge team can connect you with trusted local providers who specialize in full-day winery tours and private transportation — just ask when you book. Rideshare services including Uber and Lyft operate in the area, though availability can be limited in the evenings and on weekends, particularly in the more rural parts of the valley. We recommend not relying on rideshare as your primary transportation plan. Calistoga's downtown Lincoln Avenue is walkable from some of our properties, with restaurants, wine bars, and shops all within easy reach on foot.
